Badlands National Park

When I arrived at Badlands, I found other members of the party shooting lightening bolts, which was much fun.  Normally, you hope for one or two good days during an outing, but on this trip we had the most dramatic skies that I have seen during every single day of the trip.  The image above is fairly typical of the images captured.  This is an High Dynamic Range (HDR) image made up of 5 images with shutter speeds ranging from 1/4000 to 1/250 sec shot at f/5.6.  My experience with processing images as HDR is that it provides a greater depth and richness of color than possible with a single image.  Check out additional images from my Western US Collection.
