HDR Resources
Thursday, May 7, 2009
On Wednesday, I attended a ‘Photoshop CS4 for Photographers’ workshop in Philadelphia taught by Ben Willmore, a graphic artist, photographer and Photoshop guru. Ben started off talking about shooting for Photoshop (i.e. things you might want to modify in your approach to shooting so that you capture the images needed for HDR processing, depth of field processing, etc.). I don’t plan to summarize the whole workshop, other than to say that I thought it was really good and has given me a lot to think about. However, I do want to point out to those of you following my own HDR work some resources you may not be aware of as follows:
On-line Videos:
HDR Secrets: Amazing Photography Tricks by Ben Willmore
HDR Secrets: Amazing Photography Tricks Part 2 by Ben Willmore
DVDs:
High Dynamic Range (HDR) Mastery by Ben Willmore
HDR Photography by Tony Sweet
In the on-line videos Ben discusses in detail all the settings for Photomatix (Part 1) and post-processing of HDR images in Photoshop CS4 (Part 2). I do not have Ben’s DVD, but I assume it goes through much of the same material, but in much more detail. I do have Tony Sweet’s DVD and think it is quite good.
The blog image,by the way is another HDR image captured at Forest Haven Asylum a week or so ago. Topaz Adjust was used to help give it this more extreme look.
